Who We Are

We're not your typical architecture firm - and honestly, we're pretty okay with that. Since 2012, we've been pushing boundaries and rethinking what sustainable design really means in Vancouver and beyond.

Our Studio

Our Journey

Started in a cramped shared office space with two drafting tables and way too much coffee, we've grown into something we're genuinely proud of. Here's how it all unfolded.

2012
The Beginning

Marcus Thalquinth launched the studio with one mission: make sustainable architecture accessible, not just a luxury add-on. First project? A 900 sq ft laneway house that somehow fit everything.

2015
Growth Phase

Moved to Granville Street and brought on our first team members. We landed our first commercial project - a net-zero cafe that's still operating today and honestly looks better than when we finished it.

2019
Recognition

Won the BC Green Building Award and got featured in Azure Magazine. Started consulting on larger urban development projects across Western Canada. Things got real busy, real fast.

2025
Today

We're a team of 12 passionate designers working on projects from heritage restorations to cutting-edge mixed-use developments. Still love what we do, still learning every single day.

Meet the Team

We're architects, designers, planners, and problem-solvers who happen to care way too much about building performance data and proper window flashing details.

Marcus Thalquinth

Marcus Thalquinth

Founder & Principal Architect

Started this whole thing after getting frustrated with the gap between "green design" marketing and actual performance. Spends way too much time nerding out over passive house details and bike infrastructure.

Sarah Chen

Sarah Chen

Lead Urban Planner

Joined us in 2016 after working on transit-oriented developments in Toronto. Has this uncanny ability to see how neighborhoods will evolve five years out. Also makes the best dumpling runs happen during crunch time.

James Okoye

James Okoye

Senior Design Architect

Came to us from London with a background in adaptive reuse projects. Somehow makes heritage regulations and modern sustainability standards play nice together. His building envelope details are legitimately art.

Nina Kowalski

Nina Kowalski

Interior Design Director

Believes every interior should tell a story, not just look good on Instagram. Works magic with natural materials and daylight. Has convinced more than one client that they don't actually need that accent wall.

Raj Patel

Raj Patel

Sustainability Consultant

Our in-house building science expert who actually reads energy modeling reports for fun. Can explain thermal bridging to anyone. Constantly pushing us to go further with our environmental performance targets.

Emma Larson

Emma Larson

Project Architect

Fresh perspectives with serious technical chops. Graduated top of her class at UBC and immediately challenged half our standard details (in a good way). Keeps us honest about accessibility and universal design.

Our Studio Space

Take a virtual walk through our Granville Street office - where the magic (and occasional chaos) happens.

Main Studio Space

Main Studio Floor

Open plan workspace with standing desks, natural light from three sides, and a material library that's gotten slightly out of control. The plants are real, the coffee's always fresh.

Want to Visit?

We're always happy to show people around and talk shop. Our door's open if you're working on a project or just curious about what sustainable architecture looks like in practice. Fair warning - we might talk your ear off about building science.

What We Actually Believe

Performance Over Aesthetics

Good design should work as hard as it looks. If it doesn't perform, it's just decoration.

Honest Materials

We prefer materials that age well and don't pretend to be something they're not. Wood looks like wood here.

Context Matters

Every site has a story. We design with the neighborhood, climate, and culture in mind - not against them.

Long-term Thinking

Buildings outlive trends. We design for decades, not Instagram likes or quarterly reports.

Our Philosophy

Let's Work Together

Whether you've got a fully-formed vision or just a napkin sketch and some questions, we'd love to hear about your project. First conversation's always free - and usually pretty fun.
